Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is
elected as the 18th Prime Minister of Pakistan by the National Assembly. He was
petroleum minister. Abbasi, secured 221 votes in the House of 342.
Born on 27th December
1958.Prior to entering politics, he was an electrical engineer and businessman. A member of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N), Abbasi previously served as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources in the third Sharif ministry from 2013 to 2017, and briefly held the cabinet portfolio of Minister for Commerce in the Gillani ministry in 2008.;.
